Extreme Union Pacific Trains in the Arizona Desert!

Union Pacific freight trains traveling across the Gila Subdivision, in early 2026. Union Pacific's Gila Subdivision, runs between Tucson and Yuma, Arizona, and traverses through the rugged and beautiful Sonoran Desert in Southern Arizona. Part of the overall Union Pacific Sunset Route, this line provides a link between Southern California and New Orleans. In this video, we'll follow the majority of the subdivision, starting in the Dome Valley, just East of Yuma. From there, we'll head East down the line, and explore around the Shawmut area, near Maricopa. This section of line features many scenic s-curves on a grade through a small mountain pass. Rounding things up, we'll focus on the fast double track section near Picacho and Red Rock, in Pinal County. Special appearance by Norfolk Southern 8104, the Lehigh Valley heritage unit, along with some pacing shots.
