Verse 1: The Compassionate Lotus-Eyed Lord कञ्जालपत्रायत लोचनाय कर्णावतंसोज्ज्वल कुण्डलाय कारुण्यपात्राय सुवंशजाय नमोस्तु रामायसलक्ष्मणाय ।। 1 ।। कञ्ज-पत्र-आयत-लोचनाय (Kanja-patra-ayata-lochanaya): To the One whose eyes (lochana) are large and wide (ayata) like the petals (patra) of a lotus (kanja). कर्ण-अवतंस-उज्ज्वल-कुण्डलाय (Karna-avatamsa-ujjvala-kundalaya): To the One whose ears (karna) are adorned (avatamsa) with brilliant and gleaming (ujjvala) earrings (kundala). कारुण्य-पात्राय (Karunya-patraya): To the One who is the vessel and abode (patra) of immense compassion (karunya). सुवंशजाय (Su-vamsha-jaya): To the One born (jaya) into a noble and illustrious lineage (su-vamsha, the Solar Dynasty). नमोऽस्तु रामाय स-लक्ष्मणाय (Namostu Ramaya Sa-Lakshmanaya): Salutations (namah astu) to Lord Rama along with Lakshmana (sa-lakshmanaya). Verse 2: The Heroic Incarnation विद्युन्निभाम्भोद सुविग्रहाय विद्याधरैस्संस्तुत सद्गुणाय वीरावतारय विरोधिहर्त्रे नमोस्तु रामायसलक्ष्मणाय ।। 2 ।। विद्युत्-निभ-अम्भोद-सुविग्रहाय (Vidyut-nibha-ambhoda-suvigrahaya): To the One whose divine form (su-vigraha) resembles a dark rain-cloud (ambhoda) illuminated by flashes of lightning (vidyut-nibha—symbolizing His dark complexion wrapped in glowing yellow silk). विद्याधरैः-संस्तुत-सद्गुणाय (Vidyadharaih-samstuta-sadgunaya): To the One whose noble virtues (sad-guna) are extolled and praised (samstuta) by celestial beings (vidyadharas). वीर-अवतारय (Vira-avataraya): To the One who is the incarnation (avatara) of supreme valor and heroism (vira). विरोधि-हर्त्रे (Virodhi-hartre): To the One who destroys and removes (hartre) all enemies and obstacles (virodhi). नमोऽस्तु रामाय स-लक्ष्मणाय (Namostu Ramaya Sa-Lakshmanaya): Salutations to Lord Rama along with Lakshmana. Verse 3: The Wielder of Divine Weapons संसक्त दिव्यायुध कार्मुकाय समुद्र गर्वापहरायुधाय सुग्रीवमित्राय सुरारिहन्त्रे नमोस्तु रामायसलक्ष्मणाय ।। 3 ।। संसक्त-दिव्य-आयुध-कार्मुकाय (Samsakta-divya-ayudha-karmukaya): To the One who holds (samsakta) divine weapons (divya-ayudha) and the great bow (karmuka). समुद्र-गर्व-अपहर-आयुधाय (Samudra-garva-apahara-ayudhaya): To the One whose formidable weapons (ayudhaya) shattered and subdued (apahara) the pride (garva) of the Ocean (samudra). सुग्रीव-मित्राय (Sugriva-mitraya): To the One who is the beloved friend (mitra) of the Vanara King Sugriva. सुर-अरि-हन्त्रे (Sura-ari-hantre): To the One who is the slayer (hantre) of the enemies (ari) of the gods (sura—the demons/asuras). नमोऽस्तु रामाय स-लक्ष्मणाय (Namostu Ramaya Sa-Lakshmanaya): Salutations to Lord Rama along with Lakshmana. Prapatti Verse 4: The Universal Father and Mother पीताम्बरालङ्कृत मध्यकाय पितामहेन्द्रामर वन्दिताय पित्रे स्वभक्तस्य जनस्य मात्रे नमोस्तु रामायसलक्ष्मणाय ।। 4 ।। पीताम्बर-अलङ्कृत-मध्यकाय (Pitambara-alankrita-madhyakaya): To the One whose waist (madhya-kaya) is gracefully adorned (alankrita) with yellow silk garments (pitambara) पितामह-इन्द्र-अमर-वन्दिताय (Pitamaha-indra-amara-vanditaya): To the One who is revered and worshipped (vandita) by Lord Brahma (the Grandfather, Pitamaha), Indra, and all the immortal gods (amara). पित्रे (Pitre): To the One who acts as a loving Father (pitre)... स्वभक्तस्य जनस्य (Sva-bhaktasya janasya): ...to His devoted people (sva-bhaktasya janasya)... मात्रे (Matre): ...and as a nurturing Mother (matre). नमोऽस्तु रामाय स-लक्ष्मणाय (Namostu Ramaya Sa-Lakshmanaya): Salutations to Lord Rama along with Lakshmana. Verse 5: The Moon-Faced Jewel of Raghu नमो नमस्ते खिल पूजिताय नमो नमस्तेन्दुनिभाननाय नमो नमस्ते रघुवंशजाय नमोस्तु रामायसलक्ष्मणाय ।। 5 ।। नमो नमस्तेऽखिल-पूजिताय (Namo namaste-akhila-pujitaya): Repeated salutations (namo namaste) to the One who is worshipped (pujitaya) by the entire cosmos and everyone (akhila). नमो नमस्ते-इन्दु-निभ-आननाय (Namo namaste-indu-nibha-ananaya): Repeated salutations to the One whose face (anana) glows like (nibha) the radiant moon (indu). नमो नमस्ते रघु-वंशजाय (Namo namaste Raghu-vamsha-jaya): Repeated salutations to the glory born (jaya) in the lineage of King Raghu (Raghu-vamsha). नमोऽस्तु रामाय स-लक्ष्मणाय (Namostu Ramaya Sa-Lakshmanaya): Salutations to Lord Rama along with Lakshmana. Prapatti Phala Shruti (The Fruit of Recitation) इमानि पञ्चरत्नानि त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः सर्वपाप विनिर्मुक्तः स याति परमां गतिम् ।। इति श्रीशङ्कराचार्य विरचित श्रीरामपञ्चरत्नं सम्पूर्णम् इमानि पञ्चरत्नानि (Imani pancha-ratnani): These five jewels (the five verses). त्रिसन्ध्यं (Tri-sandhyam): During the three junctions of the day (dawn, noon, and dusk). यः पठेत्-नरः (Yah pathet-narah): Whosoever person (narah) recites (pathet) this. सर्व-पाप-विनिर्मुक्तः (Sarva-papa-vinirmuktah): Becomes completely liberated (vinirmuktah) from all sins and impurities (sarva-papa). स याति परमां गतिम् (Sa yati paramam gatim): He/she attains (yati) the supreme (paramam) spiritual destination or liberation (gatim).
