During an inspection of the Bagong Dam on Thursday (April 30, 2026), he received five key issues facing the community. During the visit, Gibran accompanied Raffi Ahmad, the President's Special Envoy for Youth Development and Arts Workers. Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak and Trenggalek Regent Mochamad Nur Arifin also accompanied him. Gibran received various concerns, ranging from infrastructure and village budgets to health insurance. Impact of Tugu Dam Not Yet Maximized Puryono, Head of Karangturi Village and Chairman of the Trenggalek Branch of the Indonesian Village Heads Brotherhood (PKDI), assessed that the Tugu Dam has not had a significant impact on the agricultural sector. "The Tugu Dam has been completed, but farmers have not yet felt its benefits because there is no tertiary canal to irrigate the agricultural land," he said. Southern Cross Road Unfinished Residents also highlighted the unfinished construction of the approximately 42-kilometer Southern Cross Road (JLS). This infrastructure is considered crucial for opening up economic access to coastal areas. To date, the Watulimo-Munjungan and Munjungan-Panggul sections have not been fully connected, while several other sections are already operational. Villages Request Additional Budget Puryono stated that village development needs remain high, while some of the budget is being used for national priority programs. He requested that the central government increase the allocation of village funds. "National development must start from the village level. We hope for additional funding to strengthen development at the village level," he stressed. Land Acquisition and BPJS in the Spotlight Residents urged the government to expedite land acquisition for the Bagong Dam, both community-owned and Perhutani-owned land, to avoid delays in the project. Furthermore, residents complained about the deactivation of BPJS Contribution Assistance Recipients (PBI), which has a direct impact on the poor. "Please follow up immediately, because this is deeply felt by the community," Puryono added. Vice President Promises Follow-Up Responding to these complaints, Gibran emphasized that he would immediately follow up on them through the central government. He admitted that he frequently receives similar concerns from village heads in various regions. "Thank you for your input. Regarding the BPJS PBI (Indonesian Social Security Agency for PBI), dams, and unconnected roads, we will immediately follow up on these concerns," he said. Gibran assured that the Vice President's Secretariat would process all complaints and forward them to the relevant ministries. This visit is expected to provide momentum to accelerate the resolution of infrastructure and basic service issues in Trenggalek, while also ensuring that government programs truly benefit the community.
