What it's REALLY like living in NYC! UWS apartment tour & where I'm moving next🚕

THE MOVING VLOG is here!🚕 In today's chaotic WEEK IN MY LIFE vlog, Tyler & I made the decision to leave Manhattan, NYC and move to Saint Augustine Florida! See our new home, why we are moving & what is was REALLY like to live on the Upper West Side in Manhattan! Huge thank you to my parents for helping us move!!! Keep scrolling for a more detailed pros and cons list for living in the city & I hope this can give you a upper west side travel guide! 🎀my INSTAGRAM:   / jackiewyers   🎀my TIKTOK:   / jackie.wyers   🎀main channel:    / jackiewyers   My IN & OUT LIST!!! Massie Block inspo lol A major IN: The convenience of having everything outside your door - especially the food! Some of my favs are Magnolia Bakery, Traviata Pizza, Levain Bakery, Tenzan Sushi, Thai 72, Tap NYC, Sweetgreen, Chopt, Harvest Kitchen, Alice's Tea Cup, Arte Cafe... the list goes on. I love the architecture on the UWS, the brownstones are stunning and I was a street away from my favourite place, Central Park! Tyler & I would go as often as we could and it's so fun in the summer to sit in Sheeps Meadow, go for a walk in the fall over the bow bridge and the boats on the water, see the Bethesda Fountain, the Conservatory Gardens. It's always a good day to go to the park! (As you might be able to tell, I spent most of my time from park to park, avoiding nightlife and younger areas as 1. I got drugged my first time out in New York, and 2. it's too loud!!! lol😬) There's always a lot to do in the city, so if you love to be around people, music and energy, you'll probably love it in Manhattan! ...That being said here is an OUT!! Since it is a very busy place, I'd say if you are out doing errands all day, you'll probably have a negative run-in with at least one person. If you have thick skin, it would probably be a funny story for you to tell but for me, it felt really draining to have so many rude interactions! Not to mention the aggressive cat-calling. I did hope NYC would bring me out of my shell more, but honestly I become more timid to spend a day in close proximity to so many people. Another out, there is crime like in any major city. I can only speak from how it was for me on the Upper West Side but through the pandemic, my packages were stolen, garbages would be looked through and thrown all over the street, lots of police sirens and harassment, drug use and so on. It was a learning experience especially being Canadian and not knowing all that much about NYC before moving there!! The price is outrageous too which I feel like everyone knows at this point! My little apartment was almost 3k a month and I had THE oldest windows without any sound-proofing, I might has well have been directly on the street with how loud it was at all times. Loud trucks, police cars, musicians, don't get my started about a particular Jazz band last summer... On the plus side, it was really eye opening to experience social change as it was happening with BLM protest on my street and elections going on! I also don't think many people will have the experience of seeing Manhattan so empty - I went to a lot of landmarks during peak covid and I was the only one on the street and it was so surreal! Overall, I don't regret my move, I think I learned a lot, Tyler & I got engaged and there's a lot to love about Manhattan but I was craving peace and quiet and more space! YIPPEE FOR SAINT AUGUSTINE! PARADISE! Stay tuned for more adventures & thanks for watching my life! & that (from my perspective) is what it's really like living in manhattan! Outfits In This Vlog!
