"Russia. Storia di un impero euroasiatico" di Aldo Ferrari, ed. Mondadori, 2024
Professor Aldo Ferrari (Ca' Foscari University of Venice) and Professor Michele Brunelli (University of Bergamo) will be in conversation. Russian history is often seen as a wavering process of attraction and repulsion, first towards Europe and then towards the West in general. However, Russia's history should not be read as that of a European periphery, but rather within its own dynamics. Over the centuries, Russia developed its own particular geographical, political, and cultural structure, becoming a world distinct from Europe, embedded in its own perspectives and horizons, within a Eurasian dimension. In this thorough and engaging volume, Ferrari reconstructs the history of the great Russian power through the elements that shaped its identity. The Italy-Russia Cultural Association of Bergamo is a free, non-partisan, and non-denominational association founded in 1986. According to its bylaws, its mission is to promote Russian culture and language, as well as other Slavic cultures and languages (Czech, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Ukrainian, and Bulgarian), through language courses (general, professional, and for tourists), training and refresher courses, seminars, conferences, debates, book presentations, film festivals, guided tours of exhibitions, cultural exchanges and trips, etc. Our Association also promotes knowledge of Italian culture and language among Slavic speakers. Our activities are aimed solely at fostering peaceful exchange and constructive dialogue between people of different nationalities and cultures; creating opportunities for aggregation in the name of common cultural interests; and fulfilling the fundamental social function of maturation and growth on a human, intellectual, and civic level. Our Association was also the first in Italy, since 2000, to offer Russian language teaching for the international TRKI-TORFL (Test of Russian as a Foreign Language) certification.
