Watch the ground crew of the A-10 Thunderbolt II load 30mm rounds into the GAU-8 Avenger cannon. The GAU-8 Avenger is a 30mm, seven-barrel Gatling-type cannon developed specifically for the A-10. It carries up to 1,174 rounds and fires at a rate of 3,900 rounds per minute, designed primarily to destroy armored targets and provide close air support.
