"Baobab Avenue" is lined with large baobab trees, some up to 30m tall and with trunks up to 10m thick. In "The Little Prince," the baobab is depicted as an evil plant that destroys the stars, but it is a sacred tree locally. When I went to watch the sunrise on Baobab Avenue, I was the only tourist there. The only other people there were early morning locals, a tuk-tuk driver, and a stray dog. I had the moment of sunrise all to myself. Afterwards, I took an hour back to town, had breakfast at the local market, and took a leisurely stroll around town.
