Many twists and turns then follow, killing all of Fredegund's sons (she had others in the meantime), and jeopardizing her own survival. To remedy this, she orders the murders of Audovera and her son, Clovis, who was still alive at the time, and she has Audovera's daughter, Basine, killed so that she can no longer marry and thus avoid any transfer of power. Through a new alliance game, Brunehaut manages to make his son Childebert II the heir to all of Chilperic I's possessions, and thus, essentially, Neustria (yes, it sounds crazy!). But in the end, Fredegund gives birth to a new son, Thierry, so everything falls apart for Brunehaut and her team.
