G&P Dolomites 2025 Day 4 & 5 - Cortina to Ortisei/ Misurina & Tre Cime (4K)

On Day 4, we had booked the toll pass and parking to drive into Auronzo Lavaredo. It was such a right thing to do, as it avoided hassle and trouble, and guaranteed a parking spot. We enjoyed the Misurina hike very much. We took a side trail that we saw no one else except another young caucasian couple. The trail was a bit sketchy and they turned back too. We had the entire trail and the photo spot to ourselves. It was well worth it. At 10m before we converged into the main trail, the trail became a high risk manoeuvre. We decided to scramble and climb out of the trail via a rock formation. Thereafter, we walked across and past Rif Auronzo, and to the Tre Cime trail. We were contemplating hard if we should continue hiking or U-turn at Rif Lavaredo. We decided to continue hiking. When we get to Forcella Lavaredo, we got intimidated by the trail on the scree slopes right under Tre Cime. We took the switchbacks down and cut through the valley with Locatelli on our right. It was not a good decision too as the sea of rocks made it very hard to hike, and Ping started to experience knee pains again. We eventually got through it and headed back to Tofana Cortina. We had dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant - Cortina Tivoli. It was nice ambience with unique cuisines, BUT we struggled with the amount of food we were served. We should have not ordered the full tasting menu.. On Day 5, we drove into Cortina d'Ampezzo, did a morning of shopping. Then we drove to Passo Giau, had lunch under Ra Gulesa, before driving pass Passo Gardena and into the Sella region. We stopped at Sassolungo but regrettably, it was already 445pm and the cable car operations had stopped allowing visitors up the mountain. We drove towards Ortisei area and to our Chalet Hotel Hartmann. We had dinner at Michelin Star Anna Stuben and it was amongst the best dining experience.
