Palliative vs Hospice Services

Understand the difference between hospice and palliative care, the available services and resources, and how Haven Hospice can support providers as well as family members and their loved ones. The mission of Haven Hospice is to honor life by providing comfort, care, and compassion to the individuals and families they serve. Available services outside of hospice care include advanced care planning include advanced care planning, bereavement, caregiver support, dementia care, and more. Haven Hospice Executive Medical Director Tiffany Massey, MD, ABFM, supervises the work of six physicians and 17 nurse practitioners in Haven Hospice’s Palliative Care and hospice programs. She is responsible for patient care, providing instruction and medical support to hospice and Palliative Care staff, and developing and implementing education and consultation services to healthcare partners across Haven’s 18-county north central Florida service area. Under her leadership, Haven’s Palliative Care program has grown substantially, particularly in working with area hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living communities to limit rehospitalization of seriously ill patients. Dr. Massey joined Haven in June 2018 as an Associate Medical Director providing direction to several hospice interdisciplinary teams serving patients in private residences, assisted living communities, nursing homes, and Haven’s Hospice Care Centers. Prior to joining Haven, Dr. Massey worked as a Hospitalist physician at Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center Downtown, and Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside, all in Jacksonville. She began her career as a physician working as a family practitioner at a family practice clinic in Tallahassee. She earned her Medical Degree from St. Matthews University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman and completed her residency in family medicine at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.
