EXPOSIÇÃO GRATUITA NO CCBB RJ : A TENSÃO DE LEANDRO ERLICH
We are at the Banco Do Brasil Cultural Center. In this beautiful building of Castellar dimensions, two artistic exhibitions are taking place. We remind you that even though they are free, you will need to schedule your visit on the internet, and also because of covid 19, the use of mask and the presentation of proof of vaccination are mandatory. Let's go to the first exhibition called IDEIAS: THE LEGACY OF GIORGIO MORANDI. This was, without a doubt, one of the greatest protagonists of 20th century Italian art. The exhibition presents a selection of the artist's works, unprecedented in Brazil, and brings as a counterpoint works by contemporary artists that contribute to highlighting some aspects of the poetics of this extraordinary artist. The exhibition can be seen every day until February 21, from 9 am to 8 pm, except Tuesdays. Between corridors, elevators and stairs we arrive at the second exhibition of the day: The Tension of one of the most provocative and popular names in contemporary art, the Argentinian Leandro Erlich. A set of 17 large-scale works proposes to change the way we see the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center building in Rio de Janeiro: floating boat and elevator, windows to imaginary gardens and even a swimming pool that the visitor can enter from clothes and being submerged without fear of drowning are part of the show. The exhibition “A Tension”, with an explicit and sonically ambiguous name, reveals, in its title, one of the likely feelings that visitors will feel in front of the artist's installations. This is because Erlich works with references that are, literally, “common places”, spaces that we are used to seeing on a daily basis, but displaced from the condition of normality. Erlich's work is structured in the mechanism of doubt, of questioning what our senses perceive in disagreement with what our mind knows. The spectator is placed in banal everyday situations, such as taking an elevator, being in a classroom, but the optical illusions and the subversion of reality proposed by the artist make his works gain connotations of surrealist adventure. The exhibition can be seen every day until March 7, from 9 am to 8 pm, except Tuesdays. Right next to the CCBB is Casa França Brasil, where the exhibition ONE ON THE OTHERS - HISTORY AS A COLLECTIVE BODY by the artist Thelma Innecco is taking place. There is a space reserved for you to make your own expression of art with clay that will be on display for everyone to see.
