UBC—First Year to CPSC

10 tips to get into the computer science major at UBC, because that's what everyone wants to do now. ICYMI: 1. Take CPSC 110, not 103/107, especially if you've never done programming before 2. Don't take CPSC 121 and 110 in the same semester, but take CPSC 210 3. (Probably) don't take engineering MATH, unless you've already done calculus 4. Find balance in your semester, and build a consistent schedule 5. Attend a hackathon; learn outside of the classroom 6. Apply to internships, start early, don't sell yourself short 7. Attend office hours, especially if you're interested in research 8. Become a TA 9. Take courses you enjoy, not easy courses 10. Be social and get involved Follow me on everything @michaelfromyeg.
