Heritage diesel on historic viaduct: 47830 visits Dinting & Glossop

Two-tone green liveried 47830, also carrying its original number D1645, ran light engine on a route learning trip on rare track in Derbyshire ahead of the RHTT season. The working was the 0Z76 0930 Hope (Earles Sidings) Fhh to Crewe Bas Hall S.S.M. This clip shows the 1964-built 'duff', named Beeching's Legacy, in action three times, firstly from the station at Dinting, then from the A57 road looking upwards at Dinting Vale viaduct and lastly at Glossop Station (although the last clip actually happened first, but it appears last in this video as I thought it was perhaps the least intetesting). All this was on the morning of Friday, September 1, 2023 - a strike day on the railways. Dinting Viaduct, also called Dinting Arches, first opened in 1844 and has been much-modified. #class47 #trains
