Moscow, 1985. David, an American exchange student, has spent the winter boarding with the Kirsanov family. Through the thin walls of the apartment, he's come to know Nina, the daughter who gives piano lessons in the front room, by the sound of her playing at night. With his flight home just days away, a quiet connection comes to a head over a worn theater ticket and an unanswered question: stay, or go. But Nina has a life in Moscow. Small, but hers.
