Rear Wheel Hub Restoration on Velosolex (# 5)
After the front wheel hub of this Velosolex project, I take care of the rear hub. The rear wheel hub contains also the drum brake. Therefore, this part contains a slightly more demanding work volume. The freewheel had a joint with the hub since almost 60 years. Some attempts were necessary to get it off the hub without damaging the surroundings and the thread. Beside some machining on my Deckel FP1 milling machine, it was also required to replace some bearing balls of one side as they have shown signs of insufficient lubrication. Of course, at the end a polished aluminum finish gives this hub the shine it deserves. As always, I try to keep as much as possible of the original structure. But enough written now, have fun watching the movie. I hope you like it.
