VOCES8: Live in Cambridge 2019 (1st Half)
In praise of the European Day of Early Music and celebrating the commencement of our joint education project ‘Roots’, VOCES8 presents 'Sing Joyfully', a celebration of the joy and beauty of voices in harmony. Watch the event on Facebook Live, streamed on Tuesday 19 March at 7pm from the beautiful chapel in Trinity College, Cambridge. “Joy and woe are woven fine” in a programme including Byrd, Tallis, Victoria, Britten and Dove, with Monteverdi’s dramatic rendering of La Sestina at its centre-point. The programme includes a short presentation by students from our project ‘Roots’. Roots partners Cambridge Early Music, VCM Foundation/VOCES8, Faculty of Music, University of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire Music, Anglia Ruskin University and The Brook Street Band are very grateful for the kind support of the Helen Hamlyn Trust and HERA - Humanities in the European Research Area. 1st Half Programme 00:21 Sing Joyfully – William Byrd 05:08 O Nata Lux – Thomas Tallis arr.
