Wildflower Hike on the Cosby Nature Trail, Great Smokey Mountains National Park, Tennessee

This is a short and easy wildflower hike on the Cosby Nature Trail in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park (#gsmnp) near Cosby, TN. The Cosby Nature Trail, near the Cosby Campground is an easy 1.5 mile (2.4 km) loop trail that is known for having beautiful spring wildflowers. We parked at the lower parking lot since the campground was still closed for the season and hiked a short distance up the Low Gap Trail before joining the nature trail itself. The nature trail is beautiful, crossing through luxurious forest and over a series of lovely log bridges. Wildflowers were not as common as we expected, but we managed to find a few (foamflower, white trillium, yellow trillium, bishop caps, showy orchids, and flox), and the orchids in particular were gorgeous. After completing the loop trail, we then returned back to our car by way of the campground access road. I highly recommend you check out this nature trail if you are in the Cosby area.
