The Northern Alps, with their breathtaking scenery, are wonderful. But having hiked them enough, I've grown fond of quieter trails like those in Minamisanriku, which wind through rural areas, villages, and along the coast. What I realized on this hike is that the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail is easily accessible in sections. The time spent walking alone, steadily progressing, is incredibly pleasant. The trails are well-maintained, information is readily available, and buses are also accessible. There's no noise, just time to quietly reflect on oneself. And around lunchtime, I arrived in town and enjoyed delicious local fish and seaweed. It was a trail that allowed me to spend time with a peaceful mind.
