In today's video, Rafa Oliveira from @OrganizesemFrescuras came to Casa de Verdade to show you how to organize a move, with practical tips that can make your move even faster. The first tip is to use a tape measure and measure all your furniture and your new home to make sure what will, or will not, fit. If any furniture doesn't fit, donate or sell it. Before packing, get rid of what you no longer need. Hire a moving service in advance. Research which option is best for you: a transport company or freight. When packing, a great option is to use cardboard boxes for more rigid items and garbage bags for soft items, or items that won't break, such as clothes and comforters. Organize your move little by little, because it can be exhausting. Involve the children in the organization and encourage them to donate things they no longer use. Use bubble wrap, newspaper or magazine pages to protect items. Place a sheet of paper towel between the plates to prevent them from slipping and breaking. Fill glasses and bowls with newspaper. Place heavier items at the bottom of the box and position lighter ones on top of them. If there is any space left inside the box, fill it with bubble wrap. Label the boxes, clearly indicating the room they belong to and the contents they contain. This will greatly optimize your time when unpacking. Inform the service providers about your change of address before moving into your new home. Reduce your consumption of perishable foods in the days leading up to the move. Don't forget to clean your new home before moving! Unexpected events may occur, so pack a suitcase with essential products and items that you use daily. When you arrive at your new home, place the boxes in their respective rooms and prioritize organization by the room that will be used. Rafa likes to start with the bedroom!
