Teletoon Originals Logo History (1997-2018) Teletoon was founded in 1996, and the television channel began broadcasting on October 17, 1997. Initially, it was divided into just a few thematic blocks. Over time, it began broadcasting cartoons for older teenagers and OVAs. Because of this, Teletoon was sued, among other things, for showing nudity in cartoons. So, the channel also broadcast cartoons for younger teenagers. A few years later, the channel again caused controversy with the film Team America: Cops with Balls. Currently, Teletoon broadcasts mostly cartoons for children, many of which are cartoons from Cartoon Network. Teletoon is available in two language versions: English and French. The sister channels are: Teletoon Retro (replaced by Disney Channel), Télétoon (French-language Teletoon) and Télétoon Rétro (French-language Teletoon Retro) replaced by Disney La Chaîne – the French-language Canadian version of Disney Channel.
