1937 LaSalle Convertible Sedan, Restored for Tour or Show, Model 50!
This is a beautiful example of the rare 1937 LaSalle Convertible Sedan (Model 37-5049) that has been restored well for touring and regional shows. Called “Sally” by her last owner, this art deco masterpiece of design is curvaceous and sexy, with the lines being accentuated by the deletion of side mount spares. This LaSalle is mechanically ready to tour and enjoy. This is one of the best designs from renowned designer Harley Earl. This is body number 423 of the 530 Convertible Sedans produced for 1937. Believed to be a western car from new, it was acquired by David Litwiler from Jefferson, Ohio in the 1990’s. By May of 2007, it was sold to Patrick Comeskey of Utica, NY. Mr. Comeskey sold it to Nicholas Belezos of Brighton, MA on the 16th of January, 2013. Mr. Belezos invested considerable sums to complete the restoration. The Briarcliff Blue (Paint Code 25) is a beautiful color that shifts from gray, green and blue, depending on lighting conditions. The paint quality is very nice with some blemishes on the drivers side front fender, as shown in the photo gallery. The running board rubber is in great condition, the chrome and stainless is all very nice to excellent throughout. The tan Haartz cloth convertible top is nearly new. The glass, lights, and trim are all in very nice condition. One of the “L” letters on the passenger side hood is missing. The BF Goodrich Silverton tires are all newer and in excellent condition. Sally’s interior overall is very nice for touring. Her dash is finished correctly, with the faux wood grained center dash with her incredible art deco instrumentation. The light tan interior is a mix of leather and vinyl. The upholstery is overall in nice condition, very suitable for touring but overall is the weakest point for concours judging. The carpet is in very nice condition as well. The venerable new Cadillac 322 CID V8 was rated at 125 hp and performs unbelievably well. In fact, LaSalle had broken the Indy stock speed record with a 1937 LaSalle and it was the official Indy Pace Car. The engine compartment is in very nice condition, being well detailed and reflecting a significant investment in its rebuild and restoration. The stack of invoices attests to the investment made to make Sally a great driving car. The chassis is also well detailed for show. Refer to the photo gallery for the details. With her 124” wheelbase and powerful Cadillac V8, this seems to be the fastest accelerating classic era car we know.
