Siem Reap Style Prahok Noodle Soup–Traditional Khmer Flavor | Cooked by Kunthea Cooking with Family
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Kunthea Cooking with Family! Today, I am excited to share with you a traditional Cambodian dish known as Siem Reap Style Prahok Noodle Soup, a beloved recipe that has been passed down through generations. This special dish is not only delicious but also represents the rich culture, heritage, and culinary traditions of the people of Siem Reap, Cambodia In this video, I carefully prepare a variety of fresh ingredients to create an authentic and flavorful bowl of Siem Reap-style noodle soup. Fresh fish is cleaned and prepared with great care, while grilled fish is added to enhance the rich aroma and depth of flavor. Prahok, the essential ingredient in this recipe, is selected and cooked slowly to create a savory broth with a unique taste that Cambodian families have enjoyed for generations. Alongside the noodles and broth, I prepare a colorful assortment of fresh vegetables, including banana blossom, cucumber, long beans, water spinach, green onions, bean sprouts, and other seasonal vegetables. These fresh ingredients not only add vibrant colors to the dish but also provide a refreshing taste and healthy nutritional benefits. Cooking Siem Reap-style Prahok Noodle Soup requires patience and experience. Every step, from preparing the broth and seasoning the prahok to balancing the flavors perfectly, is important. The result is a delicious combination of savory, slightly sweet, mildly spicy, and smoky flavors from the grilled fish. Each bowl is filled with the authentic taste of traditional Cambodian countryside cooking. For me, this dish is much more than just a meal. It brings back wonderful childhood memories of family gatherings, shared meals, and the warm atmosphere of village life. When I was young, I often watched my parents and grandparents prepare this dish for family celebrations and special occasions. The aroma of simmering prahok broth and the laughter of loved ones around the table are memories I will always cherish. Through Kunthea Cooking with Family, I hope to share traditional Cambodian recipes, rural lifestyle experiences, and precious family memories with viewers around the world.
