How To Find and Eat Golden Oysters

Golden Oysters (Pleurotus citrinopileatus) are a delicious wild edible mushroom. This video will help you find and ID them! Always ID using multiple sources so you can be 100% sure of what you're harvesting. Golden Oysters are native to Russia and Asia, and were cultivated in the United States before they escaped. Now they are displacing native decomposers here in Wisconsin and are a common sight on trees throughout the summer. In addition to the preparation methods in this video, remember that you can dry these mushrooms for later use. If you dry them in direct sunlight, they will synthesize and store Vitamin D which will benefit you during the winter when you eat them.
