Why leadership development is failing to develop leaders | Lesley hunter | TEDxChichester

Lesley Hunter argues that leadership development is no longer fit for purpose. Building capacity in leaders starts with a clear identity and understanding of how leaders behave but must be followed by a continuous fitness regime based on self-reflection -- to be a truly effective leader you need to flex your challenge (self-aware), choice (self-regulate) and change (self-lead) muscles and learn from every situation. Dr Lesley Hunter is an international specialist in developing elite leaders. Her early career in education was followed by 12 years as an Ofsted accredited lead inspector of schools, which made her question why some leaders were so much more effective than others. Since then, she has worked to support and develop leaders in both public and private sector organisations in the UK, from the police and military to multi-national manufacturing companies and small family owned businesses.
