Under its influence, rainfall activity will increase significantly across the state from tomorrow. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert till July 16, which might affect the Rath Yatra celebrations. North and West Odisha are expected to receive the maximum rainfall. Due to incessant rains, water levels in the Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga, and Baitarani rivers are expected to rise, triggering flash flood fears in these regions. While heavy rain is also predicted in the upper catchment areas of the Mahanadi river, the risk of flooding in the lower catchment remains low due to less rainfall.
