Did you know that missing the harvest time for sesame by even a little can reduce your yield by as much as 30%? We have included tips on determining the optimal time for harvesting sesame, which we learned through our own cultivation experience. ♧ The variety we planted is 'Areumkkae,' a multi-branched black sesame variety that is resistant to pests and diseases. ♧ The optimal harvest time you must not miss is when the pods on the central branches have about 25 to 30 nodes, and the seeds inside the pods at nodes 20 to 25 are black and well-ripened; and just before the bottom leaves turn yellow and fall off, and the pods begin to split open. ♧ Weather and Soil Condition Tip: If the soil is moist, you should check about 5 days later; if it is very dry, you should check about 5 days earlier.
