This drive begins in Red Hook, Brooklyn, traveling north on local streets before merging onto the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278). From there, the route enters the Hugh L. Carey (Brooklyn-Battery) Tunnel, passing beneath the East River and surfacing in Lower Manhattan. The journey continues north along the FDR Drive, following the edge of the island before ending at Pier 25 in Tribeca.
