Argentina's political and economic reality was analyzed this Thursday by a distinguished guest on La Voz En Vivo: none other than political scientist Andrés Malamud, who is visiting Córdoba for the presentation of his book, "Operación Argentina" (Operation Argentina). "People voted for Milei to lower inflation, that's clear. He's an economist who was put there by the people for that very reason. Milei is president because the economy was broken," Malamud said. "Sometimes he gets sidetracked, like when he went to Davos, and gets caught up in what he calls the culture war, clashes with others, and then comes back," the political scientist added. "Fiscal order is precarious at the moment. Milei has managed to stagnate spending. Milei doesn't have a fiscal surplus; he has repressed spending," he pointed out. "I do appreciate one thing about him: he managed to end the roadblocks. One with the stick, through Patricia Bullrich, and the other with the carrot, through Sandra Petovello. He increased the Universal Child Allowance (AUH) above inflation; the poor aren't doing so badly," Malamud said. "Adorni is in his position because those closest to him, including the President, believe he's innocent, that the figures published in the media are flawed. Milei maintains his innocence," he added. "It's in the government's best interest that, as long as inflation rises, people keep talking about Adorni. He's there to withstand those blows," Malamud noted.
