Why are even believers sometimes unsure what to do when they place themselves in God’s presence? Is prayer simply the recitation of set prayers, or is it a living conversation with a loving God? The conversation explores why prayer is no longer a self-evident experience for many people and why merely fulfilling an external duty does not lead to a living relationship with God. The priests discuss vocal prayer, meditation, contemplative prayer, silence, the harm caused by rushing, the lack of prayer in family life, the Church’s spiritual treasures, and the need to learn to pray from the heart rather than merely as a formality. This episode invites us to ask ourselves: Is my prayer living communion with God, who loves me, hears me, and is close to me, or merely a ritual performed in haste? The priests remind us that our prayers are heard not because of many words, but because God is loving and good. It is therefore important to pause, slow down, allow God’s Word to touch the heart, and learn to speak simply with Jesus. The conversation also considers how esoteric, pseudo-esoteric, and purely psychological relaxation practices sometimes adopt techniques characteristic of prayer while leaving a person without a living relationship with God and without His grace.
