Full review and demo of the Mackie BIG KNOB Passive, Monitor Controller and interface switcher. #AudioGear The Mackie BIG KNOB Passive Monitor Controller is a 2X2 monitor controller and audio interface switcher. You can connect up to TWO sources, like an audio interface, computer sound card, tablet, smart phone, etc... and switch between them with the press of a button. You can connect up to TWO sets of Studio Monitors/Speakers, and switch between them with the A/B button. Use the big center knob to turn the volume up or down. There is a MONO button that let's you check your mix for Mono compatibility. A MUTE button to quickly mute the output. And, a DIM button that reduces the output volume by 20dB, which is great for quickly checking you mix between loud and quiet volume levels or when you need to talk to someone, but don't want to stop playback. This unit is passive, so it requires NO power. SOURCE INPUTS: It has FOUR 1/4" TRS inputs and an 1/8" (3.5mm) Stereo Line input. If you connect something to the 3.5mm input, the 1/4" B inputs will be bypassed - so you can switch between two sources. MONITOR OUTPUTS: There are FOUR 1/4" TRS outputs that you would connect to your studio monitors. The Mackie Big Knob Passive is very sturdy and "built like a tank". It's an all metal body, and feels like quality. This unit is useful even if you are only using one audio interface as well, but have two sets of monitors. It makes it easy to check your mix on different pairs of monitors/speakers by just pressing a button. If you use two audio interfaces (one at a time) it can be time consuming to unplug and plug studio monitors from one interface to another. With this unit, just press a button.
