Pourquoi mon enfant me tient tête ? Savoir gérer l'insolence

In this video, I try to find parallels with adult situations to better understand what we mean by the word "insolent," and what lies behind this somewhat overused adjective that we throw around about our children... or other people's! Is insolence a lack of respect? Is it defying authority, refusing to submit, daring to speak when told to be quiet? With our children, there are countless situations that can provoke an "insolent" attitude every day. Yet, this oppositional attitude is sometimes simply a defense mechanism, a logical response, and above all, absolutely not motivated by malice, rebellion, or ill will! In this video, I'm sharing a striking example of an "insolent" child I experienced with my daughter the other night. I'll break down what was going on in my daughter's brain and in mine, which are completely unrelated :-) Sometimes, when faced with an insolent child, simply considering their perspective is enough to realize that power struggles and "aggression" are unnecessary and that the situation can be resolved quite easily—I'm not saying it's easy, of course! But if we manage to take a step back and see things differently, we realize that our child's ultimate goal in life isn't to defy and challenge us. Stepping out of the power struggle allows us to put an end to these aggressive exchanges that drive us crazy! I explain all of this with examples in this video, while reminding you that, of course, it requires some self-reflection and doesn't become automatic overnight… But it is possible, and it can be beneficial for everyone!
