A Legend of the Irish Vampire - The Abhartach

At its most basic, "Abhartach" is the old Irish word for "dwarf". However, the term also translates to "deft fellow" which was an epithet for one who delt in magic or witchcraft. And this further contained the connotation of a zombie or vampire -- a corrupted spirit who victimized the innocent. Though we do not put much credence in it ourselves, some people believe the legend of the Abhartach may have inspired Bram Stoker, who lived in Ireland for a time, to invent Count Dracula. Historically, there are only a few very basic and sketchy versions of the Abhartach legend. For this year's Halloween, we decided to take the elements of these fables and weave our own little horror adventure, set in the ancient and mysterious age of the Irish Celts (the Gaels). We hope you enjoy it. WARNING: this is a spooky story, you may want to watch it solo before sharing it with younger folk. -------------------------------------------------- Started in 2003, USA Kilts is a team of kilt makers and artisans located in Spring City PA.
