"A Bite for the Nation" takes you on an exceptional journey into the world of food safety… from home kitchens to packaging plants and the most famous restaurants. We begin by learning about the components of food containers, the meaning of their symbols, and how to use them for hot and cold foods. Then, we review the correct and incorrect methods of food packaging, before Dr. Vera Matta reveals the health risks of food-grade plastics and their potential link to cancer. Next, we move on to daring field visits inside food packaging factories in Lebanon, where Al Jadeed's cameras capture shoes on work tables, dirt on packaging containers, and violations that threaten consumer health. Health inspections also reveal the workings of restaurants before and after the "A Bite for the Nation" program. The confrontation reaches its climax with a visit to one of the most famous restaurants in the southern suburbs, where ants and insects are found inside moldy flour, a mousetrap near the food, and cockroach poison on top of food items. The journey continues with Mohammad Qansoun, who explains the most prominent food industries in Lebanon, in addition to a visit to the Orient factory where precise and hygienic packaging mechanisms are showcased.
