Why Are My Sunflowers SO SMALL? Troubleshooting My Biggest Flower Growing Mistake

I had one goal this year... grow beautiful pollenless ProCut sunflowers for my roadside flower stand. I wanted blooms that were the perfect size for wrapped bouquets, around 3–5 inches across, while still giving my customers the gorgeous sunflowers they love. Well... womp womp. Instead, I've been harvesting some of the tiniest sunflower heads! After staying on top of succession sowing every weekend, investing in the ProCut series, and carefully planning my sunflower plantings, I expected much better results. So it's time to do some detective work. Could my sunflowers be getting too much shade? Am I planting them too close together? Do they need more fertilizer? In this video, I share everything I've observed this season and plant another succession of sunflowers in my raised garden beds to test one of my biggest theories, that they simply aren't getting enough full sun. One of my favorite parts of flower farming is that every season teaches you something new. Sometimes the best lessons come from the crops that don't perform the way we hoped.
