The Restomod: Maytag Swapped Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary Self Propelled U6485-900 Upright Vacuum
This is a Hoover Windtunnel Self Propelled Anniversary Edition Upright Vacuum, model U6485900 that I bought from a Goodwill last year to have alongside the other Windtunnel Anniversary ( • Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary Edition Self... ). This one I decided to do something different compared to the other Windtunnel, and I've always wanted to motor swap a newer TTI era Windtunnel SP using a motor from an older Maytag era Windtunnel SP, and ever since then, it's never left my head, and when I finally bought this one, I later went on eBay and bought a used Maytag motor from a Windtunnel SP Ultra, and dropped it into this, and surprisingly, it worked perfectly, and I've decided to name this Project TTM (TechTronic Maytag). The Anniversary Editions are really no different compared to the older Windtunnel Self Propelled models, they just have revised Windtunnel channels in the cleaner head. This is a very good vacuum to use and I certainly love the blue color of these Anniversay Edition machines, but while using it, the self propelled motor can sometimes tend to get a little noisy, and the dirt finder on this one is very inaccurate since the sensor is dirty and always likes to stay red most of the time, but otherwise, it's an excellent vacuum. This vacuum has a clutch operated brush roll to be able to turn the brush roll on and off for cleaning bare floors and features a 12 amp motor with clean air design and takes Hoover type Y bags. The suction and airflow are fantastic, agitation is amazing, and frankly, and frankly these were the best performing department store uprights back in their day. My only complaints about this machine is that it's very heavy because of the added weight with the self propelled motor, and the hose on it is not long but thankfully it is flexible and I like that is features the older style air powered pet hair turbo brush that does a good job cleaning upholstery and is really useful on carpeted stairs as well. Overall, I really love this vacuum especially because it's one of the last USA made Hoovers to still be in production today, and I would certainly recommend this product.
