我为什么不想加入美国？

In one of my videos a couple of days ago, a comment really struck me. It essentially said that Canada should join the US as one of the 51 states, and that 100% of the Chinese community in Canada supports this. The argument is that a Canadian permanent resident card (Maple Leaf Card) only costs $30,000, while a US green card costs $500,000; joining the US is like winning the lottery. I don't want to argue with this netizen. Opinions and perceptions are neither right nor wrong, and I've never hoped to change anyone's mind. Just as many married couples struggle to truly change each other, how much more so would complete strangers? Today, I want to share my personal, very subjective perspective on why I don't want to join the US.
