Miguel Luján tells us his conversion story at a very special place, dedicated to Our Lady of the Embrace, whose meaning we will later learn. Miguel was born into a Catholic, Apostolic, and Roman Catholic family, as he describes it, with a strong gospel transmission. It was through this upbringing, reinforced by his studies at a Catholic school, that he realized that God was real, a living God, who was not simply a religion. He still remembers how his father, when they were children, hugged him and his brother and said, "I only want one thing, my children, that you be good and be saved." So, from a young age, Miguel had a very important concept of salvation. He remembers how some missionaries came to the school where he studied and spoke to him about the need to take the gospel on missions to Africa. This caught Miguel's attention, and he told his father that he wanted to be a missionary. His father told him that he was still too young to be clear about his vocation. Six months later, people from the work arrived, and many of those who had been there joined Opus Dei. “I wrote to Saint José María to tell him I wanted to be a numerary. Later, I realized that wasn't my vocation, but I did want to give the most valuable thing—marriage and children—to God in order to live in holiness,” he explains. He was also deeply attracted to the idea of ​​holiness through ordinary work, and it deeply touched his heart. He received extensive training in this regard, and while still at university, he met a highly educated group from the Protestant world. “Luther wanted to build a different Church, and what he didn't realize was that eventually there would be 20,000 denominations, but I was very excited about these new beliefs,” he recalls. For Miguel, the Protestant world was a totally new world. They began to tell him that the sacraments were an invention, among other things. “It was something that shook me enormously,” he emphasizes.
