Custer Idaho - Touring the Ghost Town

Today we visit the small Ghost Town of Custer Idaho. Located fairly centrally in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, this town was the site of a small gold mining boom and bust. Founded in the 1870's as a support for the gold mining operations in the hills just next to the town, Custer was a large producer of gold and other minerals such as Silver, and Copper. The town never did quite grow to be very large, reaching a peak population of 600 in the 1890's before a steady decline followed. Once the mines closed in the early 1900's, the town dried up as well, with only a few buildings remaining. What does remain, however, is so well preserved, that you can find things such as the original wallpapers, or even newspaper still within the houses left behind by the miners. This site is an incredible one to see, and you should really make the trip out to view it if you can. There is so much here that this video barely scratched the surface, and can only be considered an introduction into the town rather than a proper tour.
