"Understanding Culture and Bias in AI with the Culturally-Centerd AI Project". "In this session, participants will have the opportunity to think collectively about biases and cultural assumptions that underpin the genAI products that are so ubiquitous. We will explore deeper understanding of biases, literacies, and fluencies; talk about the importance of culturally-centred AI; understand the cultural assumptions that underpin these AI products; and begin to imagine strategies for broaching these topics in our communities. The session objectives are: 1. Examine the culturally-centered perspectives on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its relation to critical AI literacy. 2. Provide examples of how AI promotion and use can impact learners from different cultures. 3. Think together about AI cultural contexts and biases. Participants can expect to small and large group discussions and time for personal reflection."
