Isuzu D-MAX Build Upgrades | Dobinsons Suspension, ROH Wheels & Cooper Tyres

This episode is where our Isuzu D-MAX build really starts to take shape. After getting the base vehicle sorted, it was time to focus on the upgrades that would ultimately form the foundation of our touring setup… the parts that directly impact how the vehicle handles long-distance travel, towing weight, rough roads and life off-grid around Australia. In Episode 2 of the build series, we work through some of the biggest decisions behind the setup, including Dobinsons suspension, ROH Wheels, Cooper Tyres and towing mirrors, while explaining how each choice fits into the bigger picture of building a reliable long-term touring vehicle. We begin by fitting the Cooper Tyres and ROH Wheels before jumping back to the Dobinsons suspension install, where we walk through how the suspension setup works, why we chose it for our touring and towing weights, and how important it becomes once you start travelling full-time with a caravan behind you. We also tackle the towing mirrors install ourselves, because after towing around Australia for years, visibility and safety on the road are things we simply won’t compromise on anymore. What we’ve learned over time is that building a capable touring vehicle isn’t really about chasing the biggest or flashiest upgrades… it’s about creating a setup that works reliably day after day in real Australian conditions. And for us, these upgrades became the rolling foundation for everything that follows in the rest of the D-MAX build series.
