Sahan Journal: Hmong father taken by ICE and deported to Laos

Zong and Linda Yang of South St. Paul didn’t think Zong would ever be deported for a burglary conviction from his twenties, because Laos historically refused to accept U.S. deportees. But that changed during Operation Metro Surge as the government targeted Hmong residents, among others. Zong was deported to Laos in early May, leaving Linda to raise their five sons alone.
