for ORCHESTRA: Haydn's most passionate string quartet in d-minor, op. 76 2

Haydn's most passionate string quartet certainly is the one in d-minor, op. 76 2 from 1797, called "Fifth", "Quinten-Quartett" because of its characteristic main theme of the first movement. It seems to be Haydn's answer to Mozart's great d-minor quartet K 421. I think, especially in a symphony orchestra setting it unfolds its power and beauty ... 0:00 I. Allegro 6:30 II. Andante di molto più tosto allegretto 10:58 III. Menuetto 14:42 IV. Vivace assai Likewise I orchestrated several other movements of my favourite Haydn quartets (see my play list), but this quartet is the only one where I found all 4 movements wonderfully fitting for a symphony setting.. I thank Michael Wermke who orchestrated all of Haydn's quartets for giving me the impetus to do this work    • Haydn Digital: Streichquartett, Hob III, o...
