Egyptian law specifies the crimes in which reconciliation is permissible and those in which it is not, and sets specific conditions and rules for how reconciliation occurs. These crimes vary between misdemeanors and violations. Crimes in which reconciliation is permissible and those in which it is not: The accused or their representative may prove reconciliation. Reconciliation is permissible at any stage of the proceedings, even if the judgment is final. Reconciliation results in the termination of the criminal case, even if it was initiated through direct prosecution. The Public Prosecution orders the suspension of the sentence if reconciliation occurs during its execution. Crimes in which reconciliation is permissible for misdemeanors: Manslaughter and unintentional injury are permissible for reconciliation, as are crimes of fraud and breach of trust in a signed blank document. Regarding violations, reconciliation is permissible in cases of affray or minor assault, negligent damage to movable property, negligently causing the death of animals, non-public insult, and trespassing on agricultural land. Reconciliation must be verified before the case can be dismissed. Reconciliation is established by the victim's, their legal representative's, or their heirs' or their legal representative's acknowledgment of the reconciliation before the Public Prosecution. The accused must submit notarized documents or official correspondence confirming the reconciliation. Statements by the victim in the preliminary investigation report, or any unnotarized documents or reports attached to the same report or submitted by the accused or their representative to prove reconciliation, are not admissible as proof of reconciliation unless acknowledged by the victim, their legal representative, or their heirs' or their legal representative before the Public Prosecution. In the event of a settlement with the heirs of the victim, it must be ensured that all heirs whose names are listed in the inheritance certificate issued by the Family Court have agreed to the settlement. If there are multiple victims as a result of a single criminal act, the settlement will not terminate the criminal case unless it is agreed upon by all the victims.
