Palazzo Reale di Napoli – Admission €4; Bourbon apartments filled with marble, tapestries, and gilded ceilings. Worth a visit in front of Castel Nuovo. Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) – Medieval fortress from 1282 on the seafront; museum of sculptures and paintings (€6). Beautiful on the outside, discreet collection inside. Café Gambrinus (1860) – Elegant break with strong coffee and sfogliatella “coda di aragosta”; former literary hotspot. Galleria Umberto I – Iron and glass dome to escape the rain and window-shop like in Milan's Vittorio Emanuele II. Our pizza obsession – 10 pizzas in 48 hours; the absolute winner: L’Antica Pizzeria DaMichele (Margherita & Marinara only, €4). Pignasecca Market / Porta Nolana – Fishmongers and morning bustle; perfect for seeing local life away from the tourist trail. National Archaeological Museum – A top stop if you only have time for one museum: the Farnese collection, Greek/Roman art, and treasures from Pompeii-Herculaneum. Quartieri Spagnoli – A labyrinth of 16th-century alleyways; hanging clothes, murals of Maradona, zigzagging motorcycles.
