I Retired on €1,229 ($1,330 USA) a Month in One of Europe's Most Expensive Countries

I live in one of the most expensive countries in Europe, and I live on €1,229 a month. This is not a “budgeting tips” video. This is just my real life. I don’t go out much. My home is my castle. My plants are my children. I own my house, which changes everything—but it also means all my money went into it. I walk everywhere, use my car only when I have to, and I do everything myself. Cleaning, cooking, maintaining. I haven’t eaten meat in over 30 years. I try to eat local, avoid unnecessary spending, and I don’t buy things just to fill space. Most of my furniture is old, meaningful, and already here. I also make my own fertilizer with a worm farm. Yes, really. I don’t drink coffee anymore, but I haven’t exactly saved money there—I’ve just replaced it with other things. And I do have one “luxury”: I like a good glass of Prosecco. I refuse to drink bad wine. Twice a year, I receive a double pension, which allows me to travel to South Africa. When I’m there, my costs at home drop to almost nothing—and that’s part of how I make this work. I’m not depriving myself. I’m choosing what matters… and letting the rest go. Because all the unnecessary stuff adds up. #frugalliving #simpleliving #austria #costofliving #minimalism #realisticbudget #europe
