Centro de Lima: estudiantes universitarios marchan en avenida Abancay

Hundreds of university students marched through the streets of downtown Lima to demand respect for the right to half-fare on public transportation. The demonstration brought together young people from various universities, who expressed their rejection of what they consider a lack of enforcement by the authorities regarding non-compliance with this law. The protest began in Plaza Dos de Mayo around 5 p.m. From there, the students marched along Nicolás de Piérola Avenue, passing Plaza San Martín and the exterior of the Palace of Justice, before continuing along Grau Avenue and part of Abancay Avenue. During the march, the demonstrators also demanded a larger budget for the education sector and better conditions for students. With banners and chants, they made their discontent visible regarding the difficulties they face daily in accessing the half-fare benefit on urban buses. PEACEFUL MARCH The march proceeded peacefully and was monitored by National Police officers, who accompanied the students throughout the entire route to ensure order.
