Les Néoruraux #9 // On reconstruit un appentis (3/3)
Hey! Hi there! 👋 We're Sarah and Quentin, two city dwellers dreaming of a greener, more nature-oriented world. We've embarked on the adventure of a lifetime: moving to the countryside to revive a Breton farmhouse that's been abandoned for over 20 years! 🌱 In this 9th episode, we're finishing the renovation of the lean-to behind the longère (traditional Breton farmhouse), this time on the house side. We're going back to building a new frame, a simpler one this time, and replacing the roofing. And we're finishing up by building a door from scratch. In total, this lean-to renovation cost us €5,000: €2,000 for Douglas fir for the frame; €2,500 for reinforced PVC for the roofing; €500 for hardware, masonry, and miscellaneous items. The frame took 8 days of work with 2 or 3 people. The roof took 5 days with 2 people, and the rest (masonry, cladding, door, etc.) took another 7 days on our own. We now have 110m² to work in, dry and dry, outside, without needing electricity thanks to the transparent PVC, and we've diverted water away from the north-facing walls of our future farmhouse (which was the primary goal!). We're very proud of the result and can't wait to get started on the next steps :D On this channel, we talk about renovation (of course), but we'll also discuss self-sufficiency and agroecology... Sarah is a nanny, Quentin is a videographer, so you can imagine we're starting from scratch! But we're super motivated, and we're eager to share everything we learn with you. If all this resonates with you, join the newbies and SUBSCRIBE! 🔔 Don't forget to turn on notifications to be alerted every time there's a new video, or join us every Sunday at 10 AM! #renovation #selfsufficiency #DIY #newlife #farm #construction
