Chlorine is a highly reactive and strongly aggressive element. Combined with other products or even with water in the wrong dilution, it forms hydrochloric acid, which is a highly toxic gas, aggressive to respiratory mucous membranes and an allergen in sensitive individuals. Basic and indispensable precautions in the handling and storage of chlorine: 1. Never mix chlorine with other products; 2. Never dilute chlorine by adding water to the pure product, but always add it to the water; 3. Chlorine preparation should be done in an open area and away from students (or at least during class breaks or after classes); 4. It should always be handled by a trained person and with the mandatory use of PPE: mask, gloves, appropriate aprons, etc.; 5. It should never be stored in the utility room, which is hot and humid. Ideally, it should be stored with other cleaning products, away from sunlight, in a dry and well-ventilated place.
