In this episode of Desert Lore, I discuss the importance and usage of water in the ancient American southwest. I teach about how water influenced site choice for building a dwelling. How canals and irrigation were utilized to channel water to warm fields. and how the domestication of corn altered these decisions for everyone. I teach about pine pitch baskets and explain how they were used to transport water on long journeys, and why they were preferred over ceramic water jugs.
