Luna is the most LOGICAL synth in the world

The Luna from Neutral Labs is an instrument built on binary logic. Taking inspiration from the DIY Lunetta synths of the 70s and 80s, Luna’s core architecture is built using CMOS chips, square waves, logic gates and binary processors. Its design leads to a semi modular instrument where rhythm is just harmony slowed down. Oscillators can be clocks, and the logic gates and binary processing modules can be involved in modulation and sequencing, or as audio processors depending on how fast you work them. Luna supplements these binary ideas with a number of additional features which take it beyond the Lunetta synths of old, like pitch quantization with multiple scales, pitch sequencing, MIDI control and digital effects, as well as a three channel output mixer with low-pass gates. In this video I’ll go through the various fundamental sections of Luna, demonstrating how they can be used to influence the synth, both at sub-audio-rate for sequencing and modulation as well as at audio-rate as sound processors, and then move on to a few full patches to explore how everything operates together. Throughout the video I’ll scatter a few other patches of various types to give you an idea of the range of the Luna in different musical settings.
